The senator turned "women's" secretary, Citlalli Hernández, announced the creation of 678 "LIBRE" centers for women across the country, with an initial investment of more than 754 million pesos. According to the official narrative, these centers will provide legal, emotional, and community support, aiming to prevent gender violence.
But the figures contradict her: violence continues, victims don't receive justice, and the program only serves as a political showcase. They thought they could manipulate the figures without consequences, but reality caught up with them.
In 2024, there were reported at least 797 homicides of women, although organizations warn that the real number could be double. In CDMX alone, there were 42 cases in nine months, in addition to thousands of reports of domestic violence and sexual assaults. Meanwhile, the government boasts fictitious achievements.
Rhetoric with resources, nonexistent results
The "LIBRE" centers promise comprehensive services, but in practice, they are bureaucratic spaces without real response capacity. Line 079 is part of the decor, not an effective tool.
