The Argentine National Team is facing a problem off the field on its path to the 2026 World Cup. The match in the round of 32 against Cape Verde has caused a frenzy among fans, especially those living in the United States or who traveled specifically to Miami. This enthusiasm has led to a total shortage of tickets and has driven resale prices to outrageous levels.
The match will be played on Friday, July 3, at Hard Rock Stadium, a venue that will host the national team for the first time in the City of the Sun. According to reports, official resale prices start at $2,500 for the highest seats, while in the areas close to the field, prices reach up to $7,239. A figure that is inaccessible for many fans.
The demand is so high that it is estimated that around 50,000 people traveled to Miami without a guaranteed ticket. This was pointed out by the infamous ultra-Kirchnerist Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, president of the AFA, who made a formal request to FIFA to consider increasing the number of available tickets.
The first match in Miami
This will be Argentina's first appearance in Miami during this competition. Previously, the team played in Kansas City and Dallas, but the Argentine presence in the Florida city is one of the strongest in the country. This explains the boom in interest and the rapid sellout of official tickets.
