The Minister of Economy, Luis "Toto" Caputo, reported that exports from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) reached their highest level in over a decade.
Through his official account on X, the official highlighted that between January and May 2026 the external sales of SMEs totaled USD 4.325 billion.
“SME EXPORTS ARE THE HIGHEST SINCE 2013,” Caputo stated while presenting the data, which shows a growth of 25.2% compared to the same period in 2025.

The details released by the head of the Ministry of Finance reflect outstanding performance across all segments of the productive framework. Microenterprises led the expansion with a 38.2% increase, followed by small enterprises with a rise of 31% and medium enterprises with a growth of 19.3%.
In terms of sectors, Manufactures of Industrial Origin (MOI) recorded a 32.1% increase, while Manufactures of Agricultural Origin (MOA) grew 29.1%. Meanwhile, Primary Products advanced 22.7%. In contrast, the Fuel and Energy sector showed a decline of 28.3% during the analyzed period.

The report also highlights the performance of specific products within the SME export basket. Among the main items, significant increases were recorded in sunflower seeds, with a growth of 98.9%; citrus fruits, with a rise of 88%; and pod vegetables, which increased by 81.3%. Increases were also observed in natural honey (65.7%), mollusks (13.9%), and peanuts (7.1%).
In terms of destinations, Brazil remained one of the main markets, with a 13.5% increase in exports. The United States showed strong growth of 45.2%, while China recorded an increase of 22.8%. Spain also stood out with a 50.8% increase. Meanwhile, Chile experienced a slight decline of 3.5%.
The data released by Caputo reflects a sustained expansion of the SME export sector, with marked diversification in both products and destination markets, demonstrating its strong growth and positioning in foreign trade under the Government of Javier Milei.
