The deputy used the British designation during a speech on the sovereignty defense project, and the Official Response Office reaffirmed the name Falkland Islands

In an act of colonial servility that outrages the Argentine people, the national deputy of the Left Front, Romina del Plá, starred in an abhorrent episode of betrayal to the homeland by openly calling our "the Falklands" as Malvinas Islands. During her legislative intervention, the communist leader lashed out at the harsh penalties that the Government of President Javier Milei imposes on the pirate oil companies in the South Atlantic.

In an attempt to justify her rejection of sanctions against foreign usurpers, Romina del Plá launched an insolent jab at the private sector by asking: "Are they going to ask for sanctions against Galperin, who has shares in companies that manage the businesses of the Falklands?".

Such an anti-patriotic provocation received a crushing denial from the national State. Through its official channels, the Official Response Office of the Nation countered and exposed the falsehood of the leftist legislator by declaring: "FALSE. THEY ARE CALLED MALVINAS ISLANDS. The deputy of the Left Front, Romina del Plá, referred to the Malvinas Islands as 'the Falklands' in her intervention in the Congressional committee that deals with the National Sovereignty Defense Bill. This is FALSE. The Malvinas Islands are called Malvinas. In all languages."

Furthermore, the unfounded accusation against businessman Marcos Galperin was formally dismantled, clarifying that Romina del Plá's fallacy was based solely on the fact that certain international investment funds that hold minority stakes in the oil company Navitas Petroleum also have portfolios in Mercado Libre, one of the 70 largest companies in the world. In fact, there is no corporate, commercial, or operational link between Marcos Galperin and the clandestine firms operating in Malvinas, just as Mercado Libre does not register any activity in the archipelago.

This shameful capitulation by Romina del Plá occurred during the parliamentary debate in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, where the treatment of the National Sovereignty Defense Bill promoted with urgency by President Javier Milei began.

The debate started in a plenary session of the National Defense, Criminal Legislation, and Foreign Relations and Worship committees, featuring presentations by high-ranking officials such as Paula Taddei (Legal and Technical Secretary), Juan Ignacio Stampalija (Legal and Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Economy), and General Jorge Puebla (Secretary of Strategy and Military Affairs).

The ambitious official initiative, which consists of more than 130 articles distributed across 8 titles, seeks to provide the country with definitive legal claws by amending Law 26.659 to toughen penalties against illegal companies and investors, extend punishment to suppliers, apply the figure of trial in absentia, and create the National Security Council.

The legislative onslaught driven by the Government of Freedom complements the historic administrative and judicial offensive launched by the Casa Rosada following the firm national broadcast of the head of State and the publication of Decree 868/2026.

To date, the Argentine Foreign Ministry has already sent nearly 180 warning notices to individuals and legal entities in 30 countries, maintains 60 open administrative procedures, and has initiated 3 criminal complaints against 10 companies and their executives for clandestinely advancing the Sea Lion oil project. In the face of the ideological cipayismo of the extreme left that prefers to adopt the terminology of the colonial occupier, the administration of Javier Milei reaffirms that the resources of Argentines are sacred and that national sovereignty is defended with the rule of law and concrete actions.
