River has practically secured its first signing for next season. The central midfielder that Marcelo Gallardo had been requesting for some time is about to be finalized: Fausto Vera is already in Argentina and only needs to pass the medical examination to become a reinforcement for Millonario.
The midfielder who came through Argentinos Juniors, 25 years old, will not be considered at Atlético Mineiro and decided to return to the country to relaunch his career in Núñez. The Brazilian club informed him that he was going to be behind in the pecking order, especially after the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli to the substitutes' bench, a situation that ultimately tipped the scales for his departure.
Both clubs have already agreed on the general terms of the deal, which will be completed through a loan with a fee and a purchase option. Although the final amounts haven't been made official, the initial proposal included a one-year loan with a fee close to 1.5 million dollars and a purchase option of around 4.5 million. Once the medical tests are completed and the paperwork is signed, Vera will be at the coaching staff's disposal.
