After a very poor year, the Millonario doesn't rule out the departure of the Uruguayan defender, who is on the radar of a renowned team at the South American level

With the end of one of the poorest seasons of the last decade, the transfer market has started to accelerate at River. The rebuilding process not only targets the reinforcements that the board is seeking, but also a list of possible departures that is beginning to take shape. In that scenario, the name of Sebastián Boselli has emerged, targeted by Peñarol.

The interest from the Uruguayan side stems from a direct request from its coach, Diego Aguirre, who wants to add the 22-year-old center back from the Millionaire to strengthen the defense. Boselli was recalled in the last half of the season after his spell at Estudiantes, but he failed to establish himself or gain continuity: he played just five matches and totaled 335 minutes in half a year.

His return to Núñez had been tied to Marcelo Gallardo's need to expand the defensive options, with the idea that he would be a reliable alternative coming off the bench. However, the limited playing time ultimately left him pushed aside and today he appears as one of the players most likely to leave again.

At River the internal message after a campaign that left the club out of the next Copa Libertadores is clear: there are no non-transferable players. Some names have even been put "in the shop window" because they are not a priority for the coaching staff. In that group is Boselli himself, along with other names such as Paulo Díaz and Fabricio Bustos, even though the Uruguayan has a contract in force until December 2026.

Now, the next step will be key. If Peñarol turns its interest into a formal proposal, the board will have to decide whether it accepts sending him out on loan again or whether this time it stands firm in a negotiation for a permanent transfer. For now, the defender's situation is added to a list of moves that promises to keep growing at a River that is under pressure to rebuild.
