A survey conducted by the Daily Mail shows the Republican presidency at its peak popularity
A recent exclusive survey by the British tabloid Daily Mail found that President Donald Trump's administration enjoys its highest approval rating among voters since he returned to power in January this year.
According to the poll, the president now has a 55% approval rating, while 45% disapprove of his administration. "This is the highest approval rating we've recorded for Donald Trump," said James Johnson, owner of the consulting firm commissioned by Daily Mail to conduct the survey.
A total of 867 registered voters were tasked with evaluating the current administration's performance. The president's approval rating, which has a margin of error of 3.3%, rose by six points compared to the last survey conducted by the same firm in July, which placed Trump at 49%.
This positive assessment of the Republican administration is largely due to Trump's fight against crime, a cause that enjoys broad support among the electorate. The numbers suggest that the majority of Americans approve of the presidential decision to deploy the National Guard and militarize Washington D.C. to clean up the city and curb crime.
"It may seem surprising, but the news cycle has been excellent for the president in recent days: his crackdown on crime in D.C. has public support, and economic news has been positive," Johnson assessed.
In addition to enjoying popular support, the federal intervention is also proving to be effective. Statistics show that violent crime in the capital has decreased by 39% compared to the previous year, while robberies have dropped by 57% and vehicle theft by 35%.
To explain this rise in Trumpist popularity, it is difficult not to mention the strong economic performance. The U.S. economy grew by 3.3% in the second quarter and inflation remained stable. Meanwhile, Americans viewed the White House's efforts to achieve peace and end the war in Ukraine favorably.
