The European team easily defeated a weak Central American team that tried its best

By name and history, Germany-Curaçao promised to be one of the matches with the most goals not only in its group but in the entire first phase, and so it was. Repeating the thrashing given to Brazil in the semifinals of the 2014 World Cup, the four-time world champions destroyed 7-1 the Central American debutants in the first match of Group E.

At the beginning of the match, although it seemed that the Central American team was putting up a fight, they would quickly return to reality in the worst way. In the 5 minute, after a great combination of quick short passes, Florian Wirtz would wall pass to Felix Nmecha, who would unleash a powerful shot to the right post of Eloy Room, who would watch the ball pass by motionless.

Clearly dominating the actions, the German national team would continue to press for more goals in the early moments of the match, although they would suffer something totally unexpected: a goal from Curaçao. In the 21st minute, after a rebound from a shot by Jürgen Locadia, Livano Comenencia would shoot a ball from outside the area that, thanks to an unexpected bounce, Manuel Neuer could not save.

With the mission of getting back in front, Julian Nagelsmann's team would quickly seek a goal to put them ahead once again. Shortly after the first cooling break, in the 28th minute, Joshua Kimmich from a free kick on the right flank would assist Nico Schlotterbeck, who almost headed it to make it 2-1, but Room would deflect it with a providential palm.

Although they would have several dangerous approaches, it would not be until the 38 minute that Germany would achieve the anticipated second goal. Again from a set piece from the same area, but this time from a corner kick, Schlotterbeck would receive a cross from Nathaniel Brown and this time with his head he would beat the Curaçaoan goalkeeper.

At the end of the first half, the Europeans would have the chance to further extend the score. In the 47th of 49, Riechedly Bazoer fouled Nmecha in the area and the Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed would call a penalty. The one tasked with executing from 12 yards would be Kai Havertz, who would not disappoint to make it 3-1.

As soon as the second half began, Germany would continue to pull away in the score. In the 46th minute, Kimmich would send a great through ball to Jamal Musiala, who would finish crosswise to make it 4-1.

After several minutes in which the match would enter a tense calm, where even Curaçao would score another goal that would be disallowed for a clear offside, it would not be until the 68th minute that the Germans would reach the fifth: Wirtz would attempt a pass to Havertz, but Comenencia would deflect it towards the recently entered Deniz Undav, who with a backheel would leave it for a barely onside Brown to make it 5-1.

Ten minutes after the fifth, the sixth would arrive. In the 77th minute, Kimmich would receive in the area and, instead of being selfish and shooting at goal, would decide to assist a completely open Undav, who would only have to push it in, despite having three defenders covering the goal.

At the end of the match, Havertz would achieve his personal double and the 7-1 for his team. The Arsenal forward would make a personal run until reaching the area marked by defender Armando Obispo, although that would not be a problem for him and he would elegantly chip it over Broom. Although there would be a few more chances, the score would not change further.

After this resounding victory, Germany will try to secure their qualification to the round of 16 next Saturday, June 20 against Côte d'Ivoire at BMO Field in Toronto. For their part, Curaçao will seek to recover from this tough debut against Ecuador, on the same day at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
