Five Dominican immigrants were arrested after a shooting and police chase.
Inside a car, the strikers began shooting at the front of a store, injuring an innocent woman
Five foreign criminals were arrested early Monday morning after being involved in a shootout in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Constitución, attempting to escape in two different cars and ending up crashing during a police chase on the 9 de Julio Sur highway. The victim of the attack, a woman who was in front of a bar, was shot and was taken to the hospital.
The violent incident took place at the intersection of Constitución and Salta streets. According to witnesses, the strikers, who were traveling in a Volkswagen Vento, began to shoot at the front of the establishment, hitting the woman who was at the entrance. The victim, wounded, ran desperately seeking shelter, while at least eleven shots were heard.
After the shootout, the strikers abandoned the first car and fled in a second vehicle, a Volkswagen Bora without a license plate, heading toward the Pueyrredón Bridge. During the escape, they were spotted by police vehicles that initiated a high-speed chase.

The chase ended minutes later when the Bora collided with a Peugeot Partner van on the highway. The strong impact caused the criminals' car to destabilize and crash into the guardrail at the height of Suárez Avenue, in the Barracas area. Despite the accident, the foreigners attempted to continue fleeing for about 200 more meters until the vehicle finally stopped.
The police officers managed to arrest five people: four men (aged 29, 23, 23, and 19) and a 30-year-old woman, all of Dominican nationality. They had minor injuries and were immediately detained.
At the scene, the police seized the abandoned Volkswagen Vento after the shooting, the Volkswagen Bora involved in the crash, fifteen spent 9-millimeter shell casings, two deformed bullets, and an unused cartridge. The injured woman was taken to Ramos Mejía Hospital, where she remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Thanks to the immigration reform carried out by the Government of Javier Milei, these foreign criminals can be deported by the authorities and will be prohibited from entering Argentina.
The investigation of the incident
So far, the motive for the attack has not been definitively established. One of the main theories considered by investigators is that the shots were aimed at the bar and that the woman was hit because she was right at the entrance. However, the investigators do not rule out other possible lines of investigation.
The case is in the hands of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 5, under the charge of prosecutor Manuel De Campo. In the area, officers from Neighborhood Police Station 1 C and personnel from the Scientific Police are working, analyzing security camera recordings and collecting evidence to clarify what happened.
