Former Democratic President Joe Biden has aggressive prostate cancer.

The former President of the United States, Joe Biden, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to an official statement from his personal office this Sunday.

The disease, detected after a series of increasing urinary symptoms, was discovered during a recent physical exam in which doctors identified a small nodule in the prostate.

Subsequent analyses confirmed that Biden has cancer characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating one of the most aggressive forms of this disease. Additionally, it was reported that the cancer has metastasized to the bones, complicating the clinical prognosis.

Bone metastasis implies that cancer cells have migrated beyond the prostate and invaded bone tissue, which can cause pain, weakness, and an increased risk of fractures.

Despite the severity of the diagnosis, the statement notes that the type of cancer is "hormone-sensitive," which means it responds to hormonal therapies. This aspect offers a significant margin for treatment, as there are effective medical protocols for this type of cancer, such as androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), which aims to reduce or block the action of male hormones that stimulate tumor growth.

Additional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy targeted at the affected bones, or new drugs like PARP inhibitors and targeted therapies could also be considered.

Biden, 82 years old, and his family are currently evaluating treatment options with his medical team. It is unknown whether the former president will require immediate hospitalization or opt for an outpatient regimen.

His medical history has always been a subject of public attention, especially considering his age and his recent involvement in national and international political life.

The diagnosis generates a wave of concern among his supporters, especially in a context where Biden remains an influential figure within the Democratic Party. Although he no longer holds the presidency, his health status continues to have a symbolic and political impact.

Medical experts emphasize that early treatment and constant monitoring are key to controlling this type of cancer, even in advanced stages. However, the presence of metastasis complicates the long-term outlook and turns the situation into a significant medical challenge.

Biden's office thanked the support received and assured that regular updates on his clinical progress will be provided in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the former president continues to rest in the company of his family while considering the next steps in his treatment.
