Mercado Libre will invest $3.4 billion in Argentina and create 1,900 jobs

The technology company Mercado Libre announced that it will invest $3.4 billion in Argentina during 2026 with the objective of expanding its logistics infrastructure, strengthening its e-commerce platform and deepening the development of its fintech ecosystem. The announcement was made during Argentina Week 2026, an event that takes place in the United States to promote investments. There, the president of Mercado Libre in Argentina, Juan Martín de la Serna, assured that the company maintains the conviction to continue betting on the country and highlighted the importance of continuing to expand the logistics network and digital financial services.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Mercado Libre recorded revenues of $8.8 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 45%, while revenues increased 39% throughout the year.

The e-commerce business also maintained a high dynamism. Gross merchandise volume (GMV) reached US$19.9 billion in the last quarter, with a year-on-year growth of 37%, and the platform surpassed 80 million quarterly unique buyers across the region for the first time

During the last quarter of 2025, GMV grew 42% year-on-year in constant currency, while the number of products sold increased 36%.
