One of the most important announcements from Gamescom 2026 was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, which will arrive on September 29 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

It will also have a native version for Nintendo Switch 2 and will be available for the first time on Battle.net. The update will be free for those who already own the game on compatible platforms

The remaster will include graphical and performance improvements, changes to combat and movement, new features for Roach, new options for photo mode, and a revamped skill tree

Additionally, CD Projekt RED announced Songs of the Past, a paid expansion that will arrive in 2027. Geralt will travel to the new region of Letten, where he will face new enemies and a threat that has remained dormant for years

As part of the announcement, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine will become free for all owners of The Witcher 3

Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, also had a new trailer. The game will arrive in spring 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The trailer showcased the Weapons, the new summon Typhon, and a fully explorable planet from the Highwind. There will also be parachuting, chocobos, grappling hook traversal, and a costume system with unique abilities.

Gears of War: E-Day: will arrive on October 6.
Silent Hill: Townfall: will premiere on September 24 for PS5 and PC.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy: will arrive on August 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Ananta: will launch on January 15, 2027, for PS5, PC, iOS, and Android.
Control Resonant: will be available digitally on September 24. Physical editions will be available on October 15.
The Blood of Dawnwalker: will premiere on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Rainbow Six Tactics brings Ubisoft's saga to turn-based strategy

Ubisoft presented Rainbow Six Tactics, a single-player game inspired by the strategy of titles like XCOM.

The player will control Six and can form squads of up to four agents from 15 characters from Rainbow Six Siege. Missions will include rescues, bomb defusals, and enemy eliminations.

The new action and RPG games showcased at Gamescom 2026

Nodusfall, from HoYoverse, opened the main event. It is a cooperative action game inspired by Monster Hunter, featuring battles against enormous enemies and a setting based on various mythologies.

Sea of Remnants presented a new trailer and announced a closed beta for December. The free RPG will offer exploration, turn-based combat, naval battles, and roguelike expeditions.

Tides of Annihilation showcased Guinevere and new details about its story. The game will allow players to control powers related to fog and spectral knights linked to King Arthur.

Mega Man: Dual Override revealed its gameplay for the first time and confirmed Proto Man as a playable character. The twelfth main installment will arrive in 2027.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons presented its first gameplay. The adventure will star Kaatri, a warrior who combines melee combat and magic.

TARAE: The Unbound was announced as a dark fantasy action RPG inspired by Eastern myths and folklore. It will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The horror and science fiction announcements from Gamescom 2026

Metro 2039 showcased a new trailer with gameplay and confirmed its arrival in February 2027. The story will follow the mysterious Stranger in an occupied Moscow.

ONTOS, from the creators of SOMA, presented new gameplay. The mystery and science fiction thriller will arrive in 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

DUST: Origins showed its first trailer and launched a Kickstarter campaign. The action and horror adventure will arrive on PC in early 2027.

NO LAW confirmed its release for 2027. It will be a narrative first-person shooter set in a cyber-noir styled port city.

Cinder City presented a Seoul devastated by an alien invasion. The trailer showcased the destruction of the city from the perspective of various characters.

The announcements of strategy, building, and survival

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros showcased its gameplay for the first time. The real-time strategy game will arrive on PC in early 2027 and will have a beta during 2026.

LEGO Skylines will combine city building and management with elements from the LEGO universe. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, although it does not have a release date yet.

GRAVHOUNDS will enter early access on November 2, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X/S, and will also be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Ubisoft also announced the remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake will be a new version of the classic turn-based strategy game from 1999. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, although it does not have a release date yet.

The remake will include the original game and its two expansions, 4K graphics, new animations, updated audio, and the nine factions.

It will also feature multiplayer for up to eight players, a Hot Seat mode, tools for creating maps and campaigns, and compatibility with community maps from launch.
