The national government announced a new State reorganization measure that affects the disability area. The National Disability Agency (ANDIS) will no longer operate as a decentralized body and will be absorbed by the Ministry of Health, which is headed by Mario Lugones. As a result of this decision, the area will be given the rank of secretariat, in line with the official objective of reducing overlapping structures and improving efficiency in public management.
Officials from the Executive Branch explained that the measure aims to optimize resources, centralize health and administrative decisions, and ensure greater coordination between health policies and those related to disability. The change is part of the State streamlining process promoted by the government, with a focus on austerity, transparency, and the effectiveness of public spending.
Alejandro Vilches will remain in charge of the area
In the new institutional framework, Alejandro Vilches, current trustee of the ANDIS, was appointed Secretary of Disability within the Ministry of Health. His continuity seeks to ensure an orderly transition and no interruptions in the current programs.
