Milei's government appointed Alejandro Vilches as the trustee of ANDIS.

The government of Javier Milei announced this Thursday the intervention of the National Disability Agency (ANDIS) and appointed the new head of the organization following the departure of Diego Spagnuolo.

According to presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni, who confirmed the news on social media, his replacement will be the physician specialized in health management Alejandro Vilches, a close collaborator of Health Minister Mario Lugones, who until now has served as Secretary of Health Management.

"The National Disability Agency has just been intervened. The intervenor will be Dr. Alejandro Alberto Vilches, a physician specialized in the management of public and private health systems, and current Secretary of Health Management," Adorni reported on X.

Vilches is a physician who graduated from Universidad del Salvador and has experience in both public management and the solidarity health system. He served as an advisor in the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers of the Nation and in Congress, and held various positions at the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (IOSFA) and in the Argentine Navy. He was also general director of Quality Evaluation of Health Services for the City of Buenos Aires.

In the union and social security sector, Vilches assumed responsibilities in various health insurance organizations, including those for ceramic workers, chemical and petrochemical workers of Zárate-Campana, the meat workers' union, and leather workers. In all these cases, he served as medical director or benefits manager.

Looking ahead, the presidential spokesperson announced on social media that the new head of ANDIS's first mission "will be to carry out a thorough audit in the area."

"Disability pensions have historically been a political cash box that this government is determined to break in order to guarantee the rights of those who truly need them. In this context, the management of audits and pension revalidation will be intensified," he concluded.
