The Ministry of Justice announced that the Argentine Republic finally has clear regulations for the Refugee Law, enacted in 2006. This new regulation establishes strict procedures aimed at preventing abuses in the use of political asylum, protecting citizens from threats related to organized crime, terrorism, and illegal immigration.
According to the statement, the new regime introduces immediate control mechanisms, such as the summary rejection of unfounded or fraudulent applications, which will allow cases to be dismissed quickly, avoiding delays and unnecessary expenses.
Extradition and stricter control of asylum requests
One of the central points of the measure is the incorporation of an exceptional procedure for extradition cases. This seeks to ensure that individuals with pending legal cases do not find in Argentina a refuge to evade justice.
