On the eve of yesterday's clash between Independiente and Rosario Central for matchday 16 of the Torneo Clausura, the internal conflict within Rojo's barra once again raised alarms in Avellaneda. Hours before the match, the Provincial Police intercepted 212 members of the "Los Diablos Rojos" faction at the Siete Puentes area, in the Gerli district. According to authorities, the group intended to reclaim the stands currently controlled by "Los Dueños de Avellaneda," amid a dispute that has remained unsolved for years.
Among those detained is Pablo "Bebote" Álvarez, a historic former leader of the barra, who earlier in the week had released a video threatening to retake control of the paravalanchas. From his social media accounts, he had also posted an explicit message: "It's done, all confirmed: Los Diablos Rojos are back. Congratulations to all the guys who endured more than 3 years away from the stadium. We're already home."
Nevertheless, the police operation completely thwarted that plan. During the procedure, the Police seized more than 20 flags, 20 banners, large drapes, 13 drums, and 94 umbrellas, items presumed to have been intended for use in the incursion into the stands.
