The host of Calabró 107.9 questioned the production of a program and compared its presentation to other shows on Telefe
Despite her criticisms of the program, Marina Calabró defended the host of Popstars and separated his work from the performance of the reality show.
“Poor Nico Vázquez, they threw a dead weight on him. You are not the problem; if it’s declining, it’s because they threw a horrible product at you,” she expressed.
Popstars returned to the screen of Telefe on Monday, August 24, 25 years after its original premiere.
From her radio show Calabró 107.9, Marina Calabró questioned the production, the image, and the level of deployment of the Telefe cycle.
The journalist stated that Popstars looks “sloppy, informal, and thrown together” and differentiated the reality show from other channel formats.
On Calabró 107.9, on El Observador 107.9, Marina Calabró pointed out various aspects of Popstars.
“The problem with the show is that it looks bad, I’m talking more about the image than the substance. It looks sloppy, informal, and thrown together,” she stated.
The journalist also questioned the level of production and considered that the reality show still does not appear as a finished product.
“It looks improvised, it’s not a well-executed product, but what I feel compelled to say is that it looks bad,” Calabró maintained.
Calabró compared the setup of Popstars with that of other musical programs aired by Telefe.
“One is used to the spectacularity of Telefe like La Voz with the turning chairs, the lights, and so on,” she explained.
In that line, she questioned the visual deployment of the reality show hosted by Nico Vázquez: “In Popstars, you see that very poor thing.”
The reality show aims to form a musical group with young singers and began with a massive casting.
During its first days, the program surpassed 10 rating points and displaced Gran Hermano Generación Dorada from the channel's top spot.
Later, its numbers dropped, and the performance of the cycle began to be questioned.
While presenting the first images of the casting, Nico Vázquez spoke about the program's objective and the dream of the participants.
“Finally, the day has arrived that thousands of girls have dreamed of for years. From all corners of Argentina and many countries around the world, they come with a shared dream beating in their hearts,” he expressed.
The host also explained that the casting would test the talent, strength, and passion of the participants.
“Only a few will make it to the end, but everyone will have the opportunity to show who they are and how far they are willing to fight for what they love,” he stated at the beginning of the new season of Popstars.
