How is the Locomotive Oliveras doing after his surgery in Santa Fe?
The former world boxing champion underwent emergency surgery after suffering an ischemic stroke
Alejandra "Locomotora" Oliveras is going through a delicate time after undergoing emergency surgery at Cullen Hospital in Santa Fe, where she remains hospitalized in intensive care.
The former boxer, multiple world champion, suffered an ischemic stroke and her condition worsened in recent hours, which led the medical team to decide to proceed with surgery.
According to information from the hospital, the surgery was performed this Wednesday after a new CT scan showed significant changes in her clinical condition. "We are treating that situation. We must be cautious with the timing and take it step by step. She is with her family," explained the hospital director, Dr. Juan Pablo Moroni, in a statement to the press.

Moroni was blunt in describing her condition: "Her situation is serious and critical. She remains in intensive care." He also noted that, although surgery had been considered as a possibility since Tuesday, it was only in recent hours that the need to perform it was confirmed due to the progression of her neurological condition.
Regarding her recovery, the doctor was cautious: "The timing is very difficult. Today it is a surgery and we must see the responses."
What is an ischemic stroke and how does it manifest?
An ischemic stroke occurs when a clot blocks blood flow to a part of the brain, preventing cells from receiving oxygen and nutrients. It is the most common type of stroke and, if not treated immediately, can cause permanent damage.
The main symptoms of a stroke include:
- Sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Difficulty speaking or understanding
Loss of balance, dizziness, or trouble walking
Sudden and severe headache with no apparent cause
In the presence of any of these signs, it is essential to act quickly and go to a medical center.

Throughout her career, Alejandra Oliveras stood out as one of the leading figures in Argentine women's boxing, with world titles in several categories and a combative style that earned her the nickname "La Locomotora." In recent years, she has also worked as a coach and motivator in various social and sports initiatives on social media.
