Ignacio Piatti seized San Lorenzo's headquarters

After winning a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the club over his departure in 2021, the former Ciclón footballer made this drastic decision

According to Bolavip, Ignacio Piatti seized San Lorenzo's headquarters, located at Avenida La Plata 1782, after the court ordered the Ciclón to pay him 2.7 million MEP dollars to the forward, who was cut due to a clause in his contract during his second stint with the blaugrana jersey.

In September of last year, San Lorenzo lost a lawsuit with Ignacio Piatti, a former player of the club, due to a debt the club had with him after his dismissal in 2021, when the amount owed was 850 thousand dollars. Then, the court ruled in favor of the player, forcing the payment of the nearly three million dollars mentioned earlier.

Months passed and the payment still hadn't arrived, so the conflict escalated to the point where Piatti decided to seize the club's headquarters on Avenida La Plata. Currently, the necessary permits and legal procedures are being managed prior to the judicial auction.

The initial ruling had rejected the player's request to receive a payment close to eight million dollars, an amount that included unpaid salaries and compensation for the early termination of his contract. His departure from the team occurred amid a scandal, following a conflict in the blaugrana locker room.

It is important to remember that part of this issue in the team was the confrontation between Piatti and his former teammates Ángel and Óscar Romero, the National Government maintained restrictions that prevented dismissals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If they occurred, the current legislation stipulated that the affected party (in this case, Piatti) should receive double compensation.

The lawsuit was solved with two opposing positions: San Lorenzo based its defense on the signed contract, while Piatti based his claim on the regulations established during Alberto Fernández's presidency. Finally, the court ruled in favor of the footballer and the Boedo club is still waiting to comply with the payment.
