Spain reached a historic high of 10 million immigrants, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE). The figure represents a 900% increase over the last 30 years.
In the mid-1990s the country had barely one million foreigners, while today the immigrant population has multiplied by ten. The increase has been sustained in recent years.
In just four years 2.5 million immigrants were added, and only in the last year the increase was 540,000 people. This is the first time that the 10 million barrier has been surpassed.

In parallel, the total population of Spain also set a record. According to the Continuous Population Statistics (ECP), the country reached 49,570,725 inhabitants as of January 1, 2026, after growing by 81,520 people during the fourth quarter of 2025. Population growth is mainly due to migratory flows.
VOX, the only party that denounces the phenomenon
In the Spanish political landscape, only VOX has directly pointed to the impact of mass immigration. A situation that is compounded by the regularization policies promoted by decades of bipartisan rule by the Partido Popular (PP) and the Partido Socialista (PSOE).
VOX lawmaker Rocío de Meer stated on the social network X: "Well, it seems they weren't four refugees fleeing a war. They are heading toward 10 million and they are bringing them to replace the people. Remigration or disappearance".
