The Israeli Army announced the start of "operational preparations" for a partial withdrawal in the Gaza Strip, following the implementation of the first phase of the agreement proposed by President Donald Trump.

In an official statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that operations are being carried out "in accordance with the analysis of the situation and the instructions of the political leadership". The statement specifies that deployment lines will be adjusted, although the troops will remain ready to respond to any threat.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated the progress and described it as "a great day for Israel", emphasizing that the agreement represents an opportunity to guarantee national security without compromising defense principles.

Trump's mediation, key in the new agreement

President Donald Trump confirmed on Truth Social that the parties accepted his proposal after intense negotiations held in Egypt, with the support of Qatar, Türkiye, and the UN.

Trump described the outcome as "peace in the Middle East," and announced that the release of the first 20 hostages held by the terrorist group Hamas would begin on Monday. He also announced the creation of a Peace Council aimed at overseeing the reconstruction of Gaza with the economic participation of allied Arab countries.

"Gaza will be a safer place and, with the wealth of the countries in the region, we will help maintain peace and prosperity", stated the Republican leader, who was recognized even by regional leaders for his negotiation skills.

Israel keeps its firm stance against Hamas

Meanwhile, as Trump advanced with diplomacy, the IDF reinforced defenses and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir ordered the troops to remain "ready for any scenario" and prepared to coordinate the return of the hostages "with sensitivity and professionalism."

During the negotiation in Cairo, Hamas presented a list of Palestinian prisoners whose release it demands in exchange for handing over the remaining 47 hostages—including Israeli, American, and Asian citizens—many of whom are believed to have been killed by the organization.

The agreement stipulates that Israel will gradually withdraw troops from Gaza over the next 72 hours, in parallel with the release of the captives. The Israeli government insisted that the withdrawal doesn't imply a cessation of military surveillance and reaffirmed its commitment to the defense of its territory and the security of its population.

A new balance in the Middle East

The agreement sealed under Trump's mediation represents a turning point after months of conflict. From Jerusalem to Washington, analysts agree that the leadership of the American president was decisive in unlocking the negotiations and getting Hamas to accept the Israeli conditions.

With the support of the international community and Israel's determination in the defense of its interests, the process opens the door to a period of regional stability in which the influence of the United States once again becomes central.
