The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified their operations in the city of Gaza, where the 98th Division eliminated multiple Hamas terrorist cells that were planning attacks against Israeli units. The operations took place between Sunday and Monday, while in Egypt progress is being made in the implementation of a peace plan for the Gaza Strip promoted by the United States and endorsed by Israel.
According to military sources, Israeli Air Force fighter jets, under the coordination of the Southern Command and Shin Bet, carried out precision strikes against cells armed with explosives and mortars. During one of the clashes, a terrorist cell was detected preparing an assault against Israeli troops and was neutralized by the air force. In another incident, a mortar shell landed near a unit, slightly injuring a soldier, who was treated at a hospital.
The 214th Brigade led the immediate air response, eliminating the strikers. A failed attempt at an anti-tank attack against engineering vehicles of the 98th Division was also reported, whose position was quickly identified and destroyed by the Israeli air force.
Detection of rockets and heavy weaponry
Meanwhile, the 401st Brigade Combat Team, under the command of the 162nd Division, continues operations in the urban area of Gaza to dismantle terrorist infrastructure. The troops located long-range rockets ready to be launched toward central Israel, which were deactivated without causing casualties.

In subsequent searches, the IDF found a significant cache of weapons: explosives, radios, cartridges, and automatic rifles. According to the Southern Command, these operations aim to weaken Hamas's operational capacity and prevent attacks against the Israeli civilian population.
Negotiations in Egypt: a peace plan with Trump's support
While the military operations were underway, representatives from the United States, Israel, and Hamas met in Egypt, in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, under the mediation of the Egyptian government. The focus of the talks is the U.S. plan to end the war, free hostages, and lay the groundwork for a future transitional government in Gaza.
U.S. President Donald Trump urged negotiators to move quickly. "There have been very positive discussions with Hamas and other parties to free the captives and end the war", he stated on Truth Social. To oversee the process, he sent his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his advisor Jared Kushner.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed his support for the plan, praising Trump's leadership. According to him, the ceasefire, the return of prisoners, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the recognition of a Palestinian state constitute the pillars of lasting peace.

Details of the proposed agreement
The draft agreement includes a cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages within 72 hours. Israel would release 250 prisoners serving life sentences and about 1,700 detainees from Gaza. In a second phase, Israeli forces would begin a gradual withdrawal, while Hamas would have to accept a supervised disarmament process, a point the organization still rejects.
Israeli military sources maintain that there are still 47 hostages in Gaza, of whom at least 25 are believed to have died. Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for a temporary suspension of the bombings to facilitate the release of the captives.
The U.S. plan also provides for the formation of a technocratic government in Gaza, headed by a transitional authority supervised by Donald Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, which would mark the beginning of a new political stage in the region.
