Israel remembered the victims of the Hamas terrorist attack two years after the tragedy.

Israel commemorated this Monday the second anniversary of the brutal terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, a date that marked a turning point in the country's history. With events in different cities, tributes to the victims, and emotional testimonies, the Israeli people once again remembered the more than 1,200 civilians murdered and the 251 kidnapped during that day of horror.

Acts of remembrance and unity

The first ceremony took place at the site where the Nova festival was held, near the Negev desert. At dawn, dozens of people gathered to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack, in a setting filled with symbolism and memory.

At 06:29 in the morning, the exact time when Hamas launched its offensive in 2023, absolute silence enveloped the place. Families, friends, and survivors stood surrounded by portraits, candles, and flowers, remembering those who lost their lives in one of the most tragic episodes in Israel's recent history.

Later, during the event in Tel Aviv, hundreds of relatives and survivors participated, carrying photos of their loved ones and Israeli flags. Among them, Alon Musnikov, one of the young people who attended the festival, said: "We live with this trauma every day... it's as if it happened yesterday."

Testimonies from victims' relatives became known, such as that of Orit Baron, mother of a young woman who was murdered, who said: "I stopped working to dedicate myself to my daughter's memory and to tell her story," she shared in statements.

In different towns in southern Israel, sirens sounded throughout the country and thousands of people stopped in the streets to pay tribute.

The day was also marked by the demand for justice and the hope for a peaceful future. Community and religious leaders called for keeping the memory of October 7 alive and continuing the fight against the Islamic extremism that originated the attack.

The date coincided with new diplomatic efforts to achieve a definitive ceasefire and move forward toward the release of the hostages who remain in Gaza, mostly civilians.

A people who do not forget

Two years after the attack, Israel remains determined to eradicate Hamas terrorism and protect its population. The images of the events, the testimonies, and the candles lit in every corner of the country reminded the world that memory is also a way of fighting.
