Concern returned to surround Jamal Musiala. The Bayern Munich midfielder suffered another episode of imbalance during the friendly against Heidenheim, just days after experiencing a similar incident in the preparatory match against Leipzig.
Musiala came on in the 61st minute, replacing Arijon Ibrahimovic, but just four minutes later he fell to the ground without having received contact from an opponent. The scene prompted a quick reaction from his teammates, rivals, and the medical staff.
"Teammates, rivals, and the medical team immediately rushed onto the field. After a few minutes, he was able to stand up with assistance. He seemed dazed, was immediately substituted, and quickly taken to the locker room," reported the German newspaper Bild.
Musiala suffered a similar episode again
The situation immediately recalled what happened just 72 hours earlier against Leipzig, when the player also collapsed during the match. On that occasion, Bayern had avoided providing further details about the player's health status.
The club's sporting director, Max Eberl, had tried to reassure by stating: "The most important thing is that he is fine." However, the new episode raised questions again about the young player's condition.
After the friendly against Heidenheim, Eberl assured that Musiala was in the locker room and anticipated that it would be the player himself who would explain what happened: "You will know soon. Jamal will speak about it shortly. We knew and we know. Jamal will speak. He is in the locker room, changing and showering."
The explanation from Jamal Musiala
Finally, Musiala decided to speak publicly through his social media and explained for the first time what lies behind the imbalances he suffered in recent days.
"I understand that many of you are worried. Today I want to alleviate that concern and explain something about it: I have been diagnosed with temporary absences, of short duration but easy to treat, due to a neurological dysfunction," he stated.
The Bayern player also referred to the impact these episodes can have when they occur during a match and sought to convey reassurance to his followers: "These can cause the moments that have occurred recently, like against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim. I know that at first glance they can be frightening, but for me, at this moment, they are part of my daily life. I am receiving the best medical treatment for this and I feel very optimistic."
