Jason Statham once again reigned in action cinema, this time from the couch. His latest film, A Working Man, became a Prime Video phenomenon after its premiere on May 15. The film quickly climbed into the platform's global Top 10, ranking among the most-watched in countries such as Spain.
With a proposal lacking artistic pretensions but packed with adrenaline, Statham once again fulfilled his promise: to deliver a spectacle. The film, based on the novel Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon, offered fights choreographed with surgical precision, breakneck chases, and that kind of hero who doesn't need many words to leave a lasting impression.
From the box office to streaming: Statham found his digital kingdom
A Working Man didn't dominate in theaters, although it surpassed $98.9 million worldwide. However, it fell short of the $162.6 million grossed by his previous collaboration with David Ayer, Beekeeper: El protector. Still, it was in streaming where it found its true momentum. Prime Video pushed it to the front of its catalog and the audience replied enthusiastically.
The story revolves around Levon Cade, a former special operations agent who tries to rebuild his life as a construction foreman. But the disappearance of his boss's college-aged daughter forces him back into action. From there, an unstoppable descent into combat, danger, and justice delivered with bare fists begins.
