The U.S. President publicly praised Milei and declared October 14 as the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk
President Javier Milei was one of the protagonists of the emotional ceremony held at the White House, where Donald Trumpposthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a leading figure of the new American right. During the event, the American president paused his speech to highlight the presence of the Argentine head of state: "We have the president of Argentina. He wanted to be here, he's become a superstar, and he's doing magnificent things. He's a MAGA person."
The recognition of Kirk —murdered a month ago during an event in Utah— took place on the day he would have turned 32 years old. Trump also declared October 14 as "National Day in Remembrance of Charlie Kirk," in tribute to the "martyr of freedom" who inspired a generation of young conservatives. The activist's widow, Erika Kirk, received the award visibly moved and thanked the president "for honoring my husband in such a deep and meaningful way."

From the front row, Milei attended the ceremony alongside Republican leaders, signaling the growing ideological alignment between Buenos Aires and Washington. The Argentine president had held a bilateral meeting with Trump days earlier, focused on economic cooperation and the defense of the values of freedom in the face of the advance of socialism.
In his speech, Trump praised Kirk as "a fearless warrior for freedom, a beloved leader who inspired the next generation like no one else, an American patriot of the deepest conviction." He also announced the revocation of visas for six foreigners, including Latin American citizens, for publicly celebrating the activist's murder.
