The Argentine Republic is experiencing moments of deep introspection following the narrow defeat 1-0 against Spain in the final of the 2026 World Cup, held at the MetLife Stadium. However, far from desolation, the National Government has decided to embrace the performance of a team that embodies the values of freedom and individual effort put at the service of collective success.

President Javier Milei, in a powerful intervention on Radio Mitre, urged citizens to “be historically aware of the enormous achievement of this group of players”, emphasizing that the result of a match cannot overshadow an era of sporting dominance.

During the radio interview, the Head of State analyzed with coldness and precision the data that supports this process: he highlighted that the National Team reached three finals in the last four World Cups, a statistic he described as “extraordinary”.

Milei was blunt in defending the team against easy criticism, stating that “no one can blame them for anything, because they have given their all” and that this level of competitiveness has been maintained for sixteen years, a feat almost impossible to match in modern football. For the president, the team is the living example of his management mantra: “Argentina never surrenders”.

In a direct message to the heart of the team, Javier Milei had words of special admiration for the central figures of the process:

About Lionel Messi: He expressed his “eternal gratitude” and defined him as a sportsman “worthy of admiration” for remaining in the elite for over two decades.

About Lionel Scaloni: He described him as a “superlative person and an extraordinary leader”, expressing his wish that the coach “follows what his heart dictates”.

As a show of this state support for excellence, the President confirmed through his X account and in the interview that “the day the team decides to celebrate with the Argentine people” will be declared a national holiday.

Unlike populist governments that sought to politically exploit idols, Milei's administration has left the organization and choice of the date entirely in the hands of the players and coaching staff, even offering the facilities of the Casa Rosada for the meeting with the citizens.

Regarding the logistics of the return, the delegation is expected to arrive at the Ezeiza International Airport this Monday between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

The Government remains on alert to publish the decree for the holiday as soon as the protagonists define whether the parade will take place on the same Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, the sentiment in the Government House is one of absolute gratitude:

“Infinitely grateful for the enormous task they have done and for how high they have raised the value of Argentines”, concluded the president, reaffirming that, even in defeat, Argentina stands with its “boots on” and at the pinnacle of global prestige.
