The brutal murder of Jeremías Monzón, a 15-year-old teenager, filmed and made viral by his own killers, once again shocked the country and reopened a debate that politics and the justice system have been postponing for years. Not only because of the level of extreme violence of the crime, but also because of a fact that is impossible to ignore: three minors took part and two of them remain free today because they are not criminally liable.
The incident took place on December 18, 2025. The judicial investigation confirmed that two 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old teenage girl took part. The young girl remains in custody in a juvenile detention center in Rosario, Santa Fe, charged with triple aggravated homicide due to premeditated collusion, treachery, and cruelty. The autopsy determined that the victim received more than twenty stab wounds. The body was found days later on a property near Colón's stadium, hidden among tall grass and covered with cardboard. The brutality of the attack and the level of violence exerted marked a turning point in the case.
In recent hours, the case once again moved to center stage after the viral spread of the video of the crime, a recording made by the killers themselves. The material, which was part of the judicial case file, began to circulate on social networks and messaging applications, which led the family to demand explanations about how the leak occurred.
The family's lawyer filed a formal complaint and demanded that responsibility for the dissemination of the video be investigated, warning that it constitutes a serious violation of the victim's dignity. He also warned that those who forward the material could incur criminal liability and requested that the reproduction of images of extreme violence be avoided.

However, Jeremías Monzón's case reveals something even deeper than the leak of a video. It exposes a juvenile criminal justice system that shows clear limits when faced with crimes of extreme gravity. Two of those responsible, despite the cruelty demonstrated and the planning of the attack, do not face judicial consequences proportional to the harm caused.
The crime reignited the debate on lowering the age of criminal responsibilityand the need to move forward with a reform of the Penal Code. The discussion is no longer limited to an isolated incident, but to the inability of the current legal framework to respond to homicides committed by minors who fully understand the magnitude of their actions.
