The confrontation between J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson has once again taken center stage in the public eye. The Harry Potter author launched harsh criticism against the actress in a lengthy message on X.
Watson had chosen a conciliatory tone in an interview with Jay Shetty, where she stated"I can love her". However, Rowling's response made it clear that reconciliation is far off.

What J.K. Rowling said about Emma Watson
In her statements, the writer accused Watson of having "so little life experience that she doesn't know how ignorant she is". She also recalled that the actress sent her a handwritten note with a supportive phrase amid the threats she was receiving for her stances.
For Rowling, that gesture was hypocritical because it coincided with Watson's public statements that, according to her, "fanned the flames of controversy".
A conflict that began in 2020
The rift began when Rowling shared opinions about gender identity that were labeled as "transphobic". Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint quickly distanced themselves from the author.

Since that moment, the relationship between the creator of the saga and the main actors of the films has been definitively broken.
Rowling pointed to Watson's privilege
The author also questioned the actress's comfortable life. "Emma will never need a shelter, nor will she be admitted to a mixed hospital ward. She has so little real-life experience that she doesn't understand what it means for women without her privileges," Rowling stated on X.
She also emphasized that while she was writing Harry Potter in poverty, Watson was already a millionaire and living in comfort. "I wasn't a billionaire at fourteen. I do know what it means to live with nothing," she fired back.
