Amid the anticipation for the 2026 World Cup final, José María Listorti delivered a passionate response against those who questioned the performance of the Argentine National Team and, especially, against those who doubted Lionel Messi for reasons unrelated to football.
During his intervention, the host pointed out those who, as he recounted, began to predict the team's failure before the competition. “It makes me angry, now I'm connecting the dots. Because I, as I was going to the World Cup, was a bit hyped. And everyone around me was saying that the National Team wouldn’t do well this year,” he stated.
Annoyed by those comments, Listorti recalled the criticisms he heard in the lead-up to the tournament and refuted them with irony. “Everyone was saying, no, not me, this year I don’t know. It’s like there’s no hunger, like I’ll be a champion and it seems like we don’t care. There’s no World Cup atmosphere, you have. There’s no World Cup atmosphere, I’d slap each one,” he exclaimed.
The host also revealed that even close friends maintained that skepticism. “A friend of mine is doing well financially. And now that Messi shook hands with Trump, I don’t know if I want him to win,” he quoted indignantly, before reacting with a strong response: “Go to your mother’s c*!”
In his outburst, Listorti criticized those who mix political issues with the sports performance of the National Team. “This World Cup! This World Cup is not with brown people! This World Cup is already in the United States! What garbage! Go, b*,” he expressed, making it clear his rejection of such arguments.
Additionally, he repeatedly questioned the environment of those who hold such views and asked, “Who do you hang out with? Who do you hang out with?” a phrase he repeated several times during his intervention to emphasize his bewilderment at those opinions.
Finally, looking ahead to the championship's conclusion, Listorti left a direct message for the detractors of the national team and Lionel Messi. “On Sunday! On Sunday to all these f*! Who are saying, see, Messi, I want to see you on Sunday in the final!” he concluded.
