After being part of the Argentine delegation at the 2026 World Cup, Juan Musso could change clubs before the European transfer market closes. The 32-year-old Argentine goalkeeper, currently the backup to Jan Oblak at Atlético de Madrid, has reappeared on the radar of Napoli, which is considering different options to strengthen its goal and is even negotiating a possible exchange with the Spanish club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there have been discussions between intermediaries from both clubs to finalize a swap between Musso and Vanja Milinković-Savić, although there is still a difference in the valuation of the two players. "Napoli and Atlético de Madrid have negotiated a possible exchange between Juan Musso and Vanja Milinković-Savić. Conversations were held with intermediaries, but there is a discrepancy in the valuation. Juan Musso has been on Napoli's priority list since July," the journalist stated.
This alternative is not new for the Italian team. Musso had already been considered by Napoli during the previous transfer window, but ultimately remained with the Colchonero. The interest is also explained by what the Buenos Aires native showed during the last season. The former Racing player took advantage of Oblak's injury to take charge of Atlético's goal and responded with good performances, to the point of being a key player in the Champions League series against Barcelona, which Diego Simeone's team won 3-2 on aggregate to advance to the next round.
In the 2025/26 season, the goalkeeper played 18 matches, conceded 26 goals, and kept his goal clean on seven occasions. That performance also allowed him to return to Lionel Scaloni's plans and be part of the call-up for the Argentine National Team for the World Cup, although he did not get any minutes due to competition with Emiliano Martínez and Gerónimo Rulli.
