Former governor of Córdoba, Juan Schiaretti, 76, is recovering after a scheduled surgery for a heart condition.
The leader underwent a minimally invasive procedure called TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation).
His personal cardiologist, Hugo Londero, indicated that the newly elected deputy first underwent a diagnostic catheterization to assess the condition of the coronary arteries that had been treated five years ago.
Schiaretti fue sometido primero a un cateterismo diagnóstico para ver cómo se encontraban las arterias coronarias.
What Juan Schiaretti's surgery involved
After confirmation, the operation was performed in which the diseased aortic valve was replaced.
The physician confirmed that the former provincial governor is stable, under medical supervision, and is experiencing a good postoperative recovery. Schiaretti will remain under observation for several days.
Londero explained that the aortic valve regulates the flow of blood from the heart to the entire body.
It works throughout life, opening and closing 70 times per minute.
He detailed that it can harden and cause stenosis as a result of aging and the passage of time.
He added that this is what happened to the former provincial leader.
If no complications arise during his recovery, Juan Schiaretti will have no issues being sworn in and taking office in the Chamber of Deputies on December 10.
