Kirchnerism presented a project and seeks to pressure Axel Kicillof

Kirchnerism moved again in the Buenos Aires political scene with the aim of pressuring Axel Kicillof

With the support of Sergio Massa's Frente Renovador, Kirchnerist senator Teresa García, who presides over the Unión por la Patria (UP) bloc, presented a project in the provincial Senate to eliminate the PASO and have the provincial elections be concurrent, meaning they would be held on the same day as the national ones.

The proposal has the approval of the corruption-convicted Cristina Kirchner and Sergio Massa, which represents a strong pressure on Governor Axel Kicillof's decision to split the elections.

However, Kicillof remains firm in his stance, which he reaffirmed in the meeting he held on Sunday in La Plata with the former Minister of Economy and Máximo Kirchner.

Faced with the lack of consensus on the electoral calendar and the Governor's insistence on bringing forward the Buenos Aires elections to September as part of his political strategy, the hardline Kirchnerism decided to move forward and directly confront Kicillof.

The project bears the signature of all Kirchnerist senators, including Sofía Vannelli, representative of the Frente Renovador. Her endorsement strengthens the alliance between Kirchnerism and Massism in opposition to the provincial leader's stance.

The initiative consists of four articles: the first proposes to suspend the PASO, the second that the elections be concurrent, the third grants the Executive Power the authority to adhere to this measure, and the fourth provides for its communication to the provincial government.

"The organization of a split election for the first time in more than 40 years of democracy would require extraordinary logistical, budgetary, and provincial human resources preparation, which is not possible to carry out in these few months leading up to the election," states the document signed by UP senators.

In the same vein, the document states: "Such a circumstance must be valued with institutional responsibility, as an improvised or deficient implementation could jeopardize, as has already been stated, not only the integrity of the electoral process but also the legitimacy of the results."

The only point of agreement is the elimination of the PASO. Both Kicillof and Cristina Kirchner and Sergio Massa agree that they should be suspended.
