The Kirchnerist municipality of Esteban Echeverría, in the province of Buenos Aires, approved an ordinance last Monday promoted by the K mayor Fernando Gray that restricts the installation of large stores dedicated to the sale of imported products.

The measure directly targets the expansion of the so-called “Chinese bazaars,” which have gained presence in the main commercial areas of the district in recent months.

The Kirchnerist government justified the initiative based on the “sudden opening of large stores” intended for the sale of products from various sectors, including household goods, gifts, toys, books, cosmetics, perfumes, and lingerie, with lower prices.

According to the municipal executive, the growth of these businesses affects "local commerce" and alters the dynamics of shopping centers.

For that ridiculous reason, they will take action against the stores and imported products, which are cheaper, causing higher costs for residents seeking economical alternatives for their daily purchases in the area.

The large bazaars are characterized precisely by concentrating a wide variety of items in large spaces.

In a context where consumers are constantly looking for options to save money, the Kirchnerist mayor seeks to restrict the arrival of new establishments of this type, limiting the available alternatives and making access to certain products more difficult.

Recent Store Openings

The discussion takes on special relevance in Monte Grande, where the presence of these businesses has been growing rapidly.

In recent days, Minimall opened, which has sections dedicated to household items, kitchenware, decoration, books, and various everyday objects.

With this new opening, there are now at least nine similar bazaars operating in the center of Monte Grande, according to a survey of the businesses located on the main streets of the area.

The highest concentration is on Vicente López, where five stores operate. Additionally, there is another establishment on Alem, one located near Plaza Mitre, and now the new store on Boulevard Buenos Aires.

Thus, under the pretext of preserving "local commerce," the Kirchnerist government seeks to restrict the opening of new bazaars, reducing the supply of cheaper goods and negatively impacting the wallets of the residents.
