Kun Agüero confirmed that he will accompany Luciano Nakis in the Independiente elections and revealed what role he wants to take on

Although he left professional football several years ago, Sergio "Kun" Agüero will be close to Independiente in a context different from when he was a protagonist on the field. The former striker confirmed that he will support Luciano Nakis in the upcoming club elections and explained how he intends to collaborate if his space wins the elections.

The confirmation occurred during a broadcast featuring Davoo Xeneize, La Cobra, and journalist Gastón Edul. "I will support Luciano. My intention is to help Independiente again as I always have. I have known him for many years and the truth is we have been talking and his ideas are very similar to mine", the Kun assured.

The former footballer also explained that his personal agenda was one of the factors considered when defining that role. "The thing is that I travel a lot, that is the reality. So the two of us looked for how I can help. We found the part that can be very important: the international relations. It is an area where I believe I can help a lot", he explained.

The proposal would aim to leverage the connections that Agüero built during his extensive career, especially during his time in Europe, to create new opportunities for Independiente. In that sense, he detailed that his work could include various dealings with other actors in football and the commercial sphere. "What does that mean? Generating links with clubs, bringing in sponsors, and everything that can generate new income for the club. I think it would be very good for them today. I really like being in that role", he stated.

Agüero had already participated in initiatives related to the institution in recent years and, as he recalled, he collaborated with Gabriel Milito in the creation of the high-performance complex. Now, his intention would be to contribute again from an institutional area, although without a daily presence due to his professional commitments and constant travels.

The details of the elections

The Kun's decision comes amid an electoral scenario that is still forming within the Avellaneda club. So far, three candidates have been confirmed to assume the presidency: Luciano Nakis, from the Lista Roja, Daniel Bertoni, from Auténticos Rojos, and Enrique Sacco, from Movimiento Independiente Auténtico.

On the other hand, Luis Islas and Gastón Gaudio are among the names that are considering running for Revolución Independiente and Gente de Independiente, respectively. It should be noted that the ruling party, led by Néstor Grindetti, decided not to participate in the upcoming elections and new candidacies could still emerge.

The date of the elections will be determined at the Assembly scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 6 PM at the Avenida Mitre headquarters. For now, everything indicates that the elections will take place in December.
