On the eve of the first leg match against Cienciano in the playoffs of the Copa Sudamericana, the Ciudad de Lanús-Néstor Díaz Pérez stadium was the scene of a new recognition for the Argentine National Team for their performance in the 2026 World Cup.

Minutes before the match began, the players coached by Mauricio Pellegrino entered the field with a flag dedicated to the national team, in a gesture that drew applause from the fans present at La Fortaleza.

The banner displayed by Lanús carried a message of recognition for all members of the Argentine delegation. Under the inscription "Thank you, National Team! Players, coaching staff, and officials," the club expressed its support for Lionel Scaloni's team after their campaign that culminated in the world runner-up title.

The tribute also included the logos of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and Club Atlético Lanús, reflecting institutional support for the Albiceleste following their participation in the World Cup.

The recognition from Granate is part of a proposal promoted by the AFA, which aims to highlight the journey of the Argentine National Team during the 2026 World Cup.

Lanús was not the first club to join the initiative. Days earlier, Tigre held a similar tribute during their visit to Nacional de Montevideo, where they also entered the field with a flag of thanks for the Scaloneta.
