The businessman Elon Musk challenged the Democrats of the United States this Friday by offering to cancel any SpaceX contract that the federal government does not want to maintain, in response to questions about the tiny state agreements of his companies and amid expectations of new parliamentary investigations following the Democratic victory in the legislative elections.
The statement was made through his official X account, where he responded to a post by Warren Redlich, who suggested sending a letter to Democratic lawmakers on January 1. In the text, Redlich proposed that Musk offer to terminate the questioned federal contracts and request that Congress members publish a list of the agreements they intended to cancel, along with the corresponding authorizations from government agencies.

"Exactly", Musk replied, before publicly defending the business relationship of his companies with the U.S. government. "Tesla has no contracts with the Government and President Trump eliminated federal incentives for electric vehicles", the magnate stated, referring to the measures taken during the Republican administration. Indeed, federal tax credits for the purchase of new and used electric vehicles ceased to apply to purchases made after September 30, 2025.
