For security reasons, the friendly match between the Argentina National Team and Puerto Rico will finally be played at Inter Miami's stadium and will take place on Tuesday, October 14. The decision, made after a wave of violence in Chicago, also benefits the presence of Lionel Messi, who will be able to play both matches of the FIFA double date in his city of residence.
The change of venue was decided after a series of incidents that shook Chicago over the past weekend: 22 shootings were reported in just three days, with 29 victims and four fatalities. The unrest led to protests, clashes with federal forces, and even the intervention of troops sent by U.S. President Donald Trump, despite opposition from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, who described the measure as an "invasion".
Given this scenario, AFA and local authorities agreed that the conditions were not in place to guarantee the safety of the event. Thus, the match against Puerto Rico will be moved to Chase Stadium, the field where Messi's team plays, while the first match against Venezuela will remain at Hard Rock Stadium, also in Florida.
