The reasons why Lautaro Martínez might not play against Uruguay
The Inter forward arrived from Italy with muscle discomfort and forces Scaloni to analyze alternatives
The Argentina National Team is already gathered to face the CONMEBOL Qualifiers, in a double matchday where they will face two key classics on their way to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup: first against Uruguay in Montevideo and then against Brazil at the Monumental.
In the lead-up to the final tactical training sessions to define the starting line-up, Lionel Scaloni received worrying news: Lautaro Martínez might miss the match against La Celeste in Montevideo.

According to journalist Federico Bueno on ESPN, El Toro arrived from Italy with muscle discomfort, and his presence in the match against Marcelo Bielsa's team this Friday night is uncertain. There is even a possibility that he won't be part of the starting eleven to avoid worsening his physical condition.
This discomfort originated in his recent appearances with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, where El Toro was a substitute in the return match against Feyenoord and didn't have minutes on the field.

"The exam showed a distraction of the medial gastrocnemius of the right leg. He will be reevaluated in the coming weeks," stated the official medical report issued by the Italian club, generating uncertainty about the forward's physical condition.
Despite this, last March 16, Lautaro played 90 minutes in Serie A with Inter and scored a goal in the 2-0 victory against Atalanta, which makes his possible absence in the National Team noteworthy. The final decision will be in the hands of Scaloni and his coaching staff.

Possible Argentina line-up against Uruguay
With Lionel Messi out due to injury and his exclusion from the draft, this would be the starting team expected to face Uruguay in the resumption of the Qualifiers:
- Goalkeeper: Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez
- Defenders: Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolás Otamendi, and Nicolás Tagliafico
- Midfielders: Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernández, and Alexis Mac Allister
- Forwards: Nicolás González, LAUTARO MARTÍNEZ, and Julián Álvarez
