Mario Pergolini held nothing back and spoke on air about his youngest daughter's decision to participate in a competing reality show. In his program on El Trece, the host made it clear that the news took him by surprise and that he did not agree with Valentina's choice.
On Wednesday, July 26, during the broadcast of Otro día perdido, Pergolini brought up the topic with his characteristic ironic tone. He mentioned that his daughter had been a bit exposed because she had signed up for reality shows and had presented herself without notifying him in advance.
With a fixed gaze at the camera, as if he were speaking directly to her, he said: “My love, my life, my sky... with how much dad protected all this...”. The comment sounded like a clear complaint for having broken the discretion he always sought to maintain around his family.
Agustín “Rada” Aristarán tried to stop him with a “Don’t do it...”, but Pergolini pressed on. “Didn’t you think you should have told me?”, he asked, and concluded: “She stood in line one day and we found out...”. It became clear that, at least he, knew nothing until the last moment.
A decision that crossed the competition
The detail that added the most spice to the matter is that Popstars is broadcast on Telefe, El Trece's main rival, and at a time close to his own program. For someone who has always protected his surroundings from the media spotlight, his daughter's appearance in that context generated a family internal conflict that ended up coming to light.
Pergolini has cultivated a low profile regarding his private life for years. He preferred that his children grow up away from the cameras and sensational news. However, the kids grow up and make their own decisions, and Valentina, at 20 years old, chose to try her luck in the musical reality show.
