At 55 years old, Matt Damon took on one of the toughest physical challenges of his career to portray Ulysses in the new woke version of “The Odyssey” directed by Christopher Nolan. The actor, who shares the screen with Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, managed to lose significant weight and reach 76 kilos, a number he hadn't seen since his high school days.
Damon shared on a podcast that the director's request was clear: he had to be slim but strong. To achieve this, he combined intense training with significant changes to his diet. Previously, his weight fluctuated between 84 and 91 kilos, so this transformation represented a major challenge at his age.
The most significant change in his daily routine was the decision to eliminate gluten completely. As he explained, he did this following his doctor's advice, and the results were so positive that he decided to maintain it forever. “It's over,” he stated regarding returning to consume gluten products.
He even mentioned that he found alternatives like gluten-free beer and joked that it has been so long since he last had traditional gluten that he doesn't remember how it tastes.
