Maximiliano Meza is very close to ending his cycle at River Plate. The attacking midfielder, who was not going to be considered by the new coaching staff led by Eduardo Coudet, has reached an agreement to terminate his contract and is on track to return to Independiente in this transfer window.

The player was part of the group of players separated from the main squad and this Monday he reported to the Ezeiza facility to undergo medical examinations and differentiated training alongside the other players looking to define their future.

According to reports, the management of Independiente has already agreed with Meza on both the economic conditions and the duration of the contract. Once he is released from River, the midfielder will sign a contract for 18 months, valid until December 2027.

The goal of the Avellaneda club is to incorporate him as soon as possible, so negotiations to finalize the termination are in the final stages. If the operation goes through, River will not receive any money for the player's departure, as he will leave the institution with his transfer in hand.

In total, he played 47 official matches, scored eight goals, and provided four assists, although he did not manage to win any titles during his time at the Millonario.

Meza's departure adds to that of Paulo Díaz, who was recently transferred to Atlanta United in MLS, and is part of the renewal process that River is undergoing ahead of the next season.
