Before facing his former team again, the Frenchman withdrew a criminal complaint, but he is maintaining his labor lawsuit
World football is preparing for one of the most anticipated clashes of the year: Real Madrid vs. Paris Saint-Germain, in the semifinals of the Club World Cup. In addition to the appeal of seeing two powerhouses face to face, there is the added element of Kylian Mbappé reuniting with his former team.
Prior to the match, news shook the football world: according to the French outlet L’Équipe, Mbappé decided to withdraw the criminal complaint for moral harassment and attempted extortion that he had filed against PSG on May 16.
Despite this step back, the forward is maintaining his lawsuit before the French Labor Court, where he is demanding payment of 55 million euros (121,254,000 pounds) corresponding to unpaid salaries and bonuses. The conflict arose after his departure from the Parisian club without a financial agreement to compensate for his exit.
Mbappé's gesture can be interpreted as an attempt to calm the waters in a relationship that became extremely tense during his final months in Paris. According to the newspaper Marca, the player's intention is to focus solely on football and set aside legal disputes during this decisive stage of the season.
Meanwhile, signals of détente have also emerged from PSG. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the club's president, surprised with a conciliatory message: "We were lucky this year with him, but I wish him all the best at Real Madrid, with all my heart".
Nonetheless, the legal battle remains latent and could be reactivated later. For now, the story between Mbappé and the Parisian club moves from the courts to the field, where it will be the first official meeting between the French striker and his former team since he became a Real Madrid player.

The highly anticipated clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid will take place on Wednesday, July 9 at 4:00 PM (Argentine time) at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States, for the second semifinal of the current Club World Cup.
