Messi and Luis Suárez launched Deportivo LSM, a professional soccer club SAD
The club is expected to start competing in 2026, beginning in the fourth tier of Uruguayan football
After a series of mysterious social media posts and numerous rumors, Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi have finally revealed their new project.
The Inter Miami forward has officially confirmed the launch of Deportivo LSM, a Sports Corporation (SAD) that he shares with the greatest player in history and world champion. The club, privately funded, is expected to begin competing in 2026, starting from the amateur Second Division, known as the old D, which is the fourth tier of Uruguayan soccer.
The team, which was originally created under the name Deportivo LS, was founded on February 17, 2021, and is based in Ciudad de la Costa, in the department of Canelones. Although it already participated in youth women's categories and amateur leagues, the goal of both former Barcelona players is for the club to start competing next year in tournaments organized by the Uruguayan Football Association.

The news gained momentum after several posts where Suárez showed images with the letters "LS," which later became "LSM," incorporating the "M" as a clear reference to Messi, who appeared unexpectedly in a video that seemed like a monologue by the "Pistolero."
"I wanted to thank Luis for giving me this opportunity, for inviting me to join him and share this project that he has been working on for many years and that has grown tremendously. Being part of this with you, for me, is a source of pride and joy. I hope I can contribute everything within my reach to keep growing and stay by your side. Thank you very much," Leo said in his message to the Uruguayan.
A story that had been taking shape
Luis Suárez himself said that the idea emerged as "a family dream" back in 2018, and since then the club has grown steadily. Currently, the institution has more than 3,000 members and boasts top-level infrastructure: a stadium with a capacity for 1,400 spectators, natural and synthetic grass playing fields, a gym, swimming pools, and a Ciutat Esportiva in constant development.

Since its founding, Deportivo LS has focused its work on developing players in Ciudad de la Costa, a key area outside Montevideo. The goal has always been to identify and provide opportunities to talented young people who could not enter the major clubs in the capital.
The heart of the project is the "Ciudad Deportiva Luis Suárez," a modern complex with various facilities. Moreover, the growth was not limited to soccer, as the institution incorporated other disciplines and had an active presence in competitions such as the University League.
Today, Deportivo LS—under the exclusive leadership of Suárez—officially competes in the under-16 women's soccer category within the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF).
With the new momentum of Deportivo LSM, the club will start from the lowest divisions of the AUF system, as is mandatory for all new entries. However, with a solid structure and two soccer giants driving the project, the dream of rapid promotion seems very possible.
