Meta announced a series of updates for Edits, its video editing application created to compete directly with CapCut. Among the most notable features is an assistant based on artificial intelligence and a much-anticipated desktop version.
The company presented these tools during an exclusive event for creators held in Los Angeles. The strategy aims to strengthen the Instagram ecosystem and provide more resources for those who produce content professionally.

How the new artificial intelligence assistant for Edits will work
The main novelty will be the incorporation of an AI assistant capable of analyzing the performance of posts and suggesting new content ideas.
The tool will use data from Instagram, including views, watch time, and audience retention. Based on that information, it will offer personalized recommendations to improve the reach of videos.
Additionally, it will be able to detect trends, suggest popular audio, and propose new formats based on what works best for each creator.

With this integration, Meta aims for users not to have to turn to external platforms to generate ideas or interpret performance metrics.
Edits will have a desktop version
Another major update is the arrival of a desktop version of Edits, a feature that did not previously exist within the platform.

Editing from a PC will allow for greater precision and take advantage of larger screens for complex projects. It will also facilitate advanced editing tasks that are often cumbersome on mobile devices.
Meta confirmed that users will be able to sync their projects between their phone and computer, maintaining a continuous workflow between both devices.
