The Government will constantly promote a battery of reforms throughout 2026.
Last night, President Javier Milei kicked off the regular session of Congress with a speech with a strong reformist content, in which he combined harsh criticism of Kirchnerism with the announcement of an ambitious legislative agenda that will set the course of the country.
During his presentation, the president confirmed that the Government of Milei will present in a sustained manner a wide range of projects aimed at transforming the functioning of the Argentine State.
In this context, Milei anticipated that each ministry already has at least ten packages of initiatives prepared, which will make it possible to promote a battery of reforms on a constant basis throughout the year.
“This will constitute the calendar year of the reform: nine uninterrupted months of structural reforms that will redesign the institutional architecture of New Argentina,” said the head of state, stressing the scope of the process that drives his administration.

The President also urged the Legislative Branch to accompany this process and asked legislators to “live up to Argentine greatness.” In this context, he responded to those who question the magnitude of the reformist plan
.
“Some will say that 90 packages of structural reforms in one year is excessive, dictatorial, or whatever. Faced with this, I want to point out the following: our reformist ambition cannot be understood as an attempt to accumulate power. It is not, and never will be, a 'we are going for everything, '” he said.
From La Libertad Avanza, they emphasized that the objective is to consolidate the reformist dynamic that allowed the approval of key initiatives during the extraordinary sessions.
Among the outstanding achievements, they mentioned the approval of labor modernization, the lowering of the age of accountability, the ratification of the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, as well as the progress made in the reform of the Glacier Law, aimed at boosting productive enterprises.

Milei highlighted the role of the current Congress and defined it as a historic opportunity to move forward with fundamental changes. “Never has the National Congress had such a reformist composition as this one. We will dedicate this year to examining the legal and institutional organization that brought us here and building the architecture that the Argentine State will have for the next 50 years, with Western morality as State policy,” he explained.
The next reforms
Among the concrete reforms that the Government will promote, the president mentioned modifications to the Civil and Commercial Code and to the Code of Civil and Commercial Procedure. He also advanced “a package of laws aimed at protecting the fundamental rights of Argentines of those who only know how to live from others, including the codification that establishes consumer and competition protection
.”
The official plan also contemplates changes in the tax system with the objective of reducing the tax burden. In this regard, Milei confirmed that the process of reducing withholding will continue, “in a responsible manner, only to the extent that the fiscal surplus allows it
.”
Political reform constitutes another central axis of the libertarian program. As explained by the President, it will seek to modify the electoral system so that “representatives are responsible to their representatives”, as well as to reform the funding of political parties in order to “provide transparency to relations between business and politics”. In addition, the ruling party will move forward in the definitive elimination of the PASO
. President Javier Milei. In relation to the Judiciary, the president questioned its current functioning and maintained that it is conditioned by interests outside its essential function.
“We will present projects that once again make the Judiciary a democratic, republican, agile, fast, effective tool, and above all else that it is just,”
he said.
Finally, Milei reaffirmed that the Government will promote transformations in the education system, covering the initial, primary and secondary levels. The objective will be to recover educational quality and put an end to the “indoctrination” of the left, as part of a comprehensive reform process that will redefine the institutional functioning of Argentina for the coming decades
