President Javier Milei expressed his full support for the operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela. He celebrated the capture of Nicolás Maduro and stated that the fall of the Chavista regime "is excellent news for the free world".

In statements to LN+, the head of state maintained that Argentina will support the position of Donald Trump's administration at the urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council. In addition, he emphasized that the Venezuelan people had no other way out in the face of a closed, fraudulent political system sustained by repression.

"Total support for the United States, total support for the U.S. motion. Venezuelans had no way out of this sinister equilibrium in which they were trapped", Milei stated, while he described the events as "excellent news for the free world".

"We are witnessing the fall of a dictator"

For the President, the capture of Maduro "means the fall of a dictator's regime". He also recalled that the Chavista leader "had been rigging elections", even after having been soundly defeated in the latest elections.

"We are witnessing the fall of a dictator", Milei insisted. In addition, he supported the actions of the United States by pointing out that Maduro "is a narco-terrorist" with international ties.

According to his explanation, the Venezuelan regime had drug trafficking as one of its main sources of financing, particularly through the Cartel of the Suns. This is an organization that was declared terrorist by the Argentine Government on August 26.

Argentina's official position

In line with the President's statements, the national Government released an official communiqué through the Casa Rosada and the Foreign Ministry, headed by Pablo Quirno. In the communiqué, it valued "the solve and determination demonstrated by the President of the United States of America and by his Government" in the actions that led to Maduro's capture.

The text maintained that Argentina trusts that these events "will represent a decisive step forward against narco-terrorism that affects the region". At the same time, it hopes that they will open a "stage that will allow the Venezuelan people to fully recover democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights".

The official communiqué also expressed explicit support for the authorities legitimately elected by the Venezuelan people. In that context, it stated that president-elect Edmundo González Urrutia must be able to exercise his constitutional mandate, in accordance with the popular will expressed at the ballot box.

Likewise, it highlighted María Corina Machado's leadership in the defense of democracy and freedom in Venezuela.

Finally, the Argentine Republic reiterated that the Venezuelan regime is internationally responsible for the physical integrity and security of Argentine citizen Nahuel Gallo. The Argentine gendarme remains arbitrarily detained, and his immediate release was demanded, in compliance with international human rights obligations.
