Milei fired back at Macri after the accusation of buying leaders: 'Let him bring the invoice'

'I get the feeling that everyone who had a price has already been bought,' former President Macri had said

President Javier Milei replied harshly to the statements of former President Mauricio Macri, who suggested that La Libertad Avanza might be co-opting PRO leaders through incentives.

In television statements, the president was blunt: "Let him bring the invoice and show it".

The disagreement arises amid negotiations for a possible electoral agreement in the province of Buenos Aires between both forces, which generates internal tensions both in the ruling party and in the PRO.

Milei: "The agreement in the Province is advancing strongly"

During an interview on channel A24, Milei downplayed the resistance of certain PRO sectors to the understanding with his political space and expressed his confidence that a consensus will eventually be reached.

"It may be that a tiny group of the PRO doesn't want the agreement, but it's moving very strongly", he assured.

Meanwhile, he mentioned key figures in the Buenos Aires discussion such as José Luis Espert, Cristian Ritondo, and Diego Santilli, and stated that, in his opinion, they will end up forming a "supercompetitive" structure.

Then, the president referred to Governor Axel Kicillof as "the Soviet, communist, Bolshevik", reaffirming his goal to strongly contest the main bastion of Peronism.

Macri's phrase that ignited the controversy

The controversy originated the previous day, in a meeting held in Mar del Plata with Buenos Aires PRO leaders, where Mauricio Macri spoke about the terms of the possible agreement with La Libertad Avanza.

"What we have ahead is an institutional agreement. We are going to put the best we have," he said, referring to the dialogue with Cristian Ritondo and other leaders.

However, it was a subsequent phrase that caused greater discomfort: "I get the feeling that everyone who had a price has already been bought. Here there are no people with a price, there are people with values".

The statement was interpreted as a direct accusation against LLA, and from the libertarian environment, they were quick to respond. "Unfortunately, these are statements of rupture. We can't continue negotiating with someone who is constantly saying these things", an operator close to the ruling party told Infobae.

The episode once again highlights the difficulties of the official opposition coalition in the Province, where agreements are advancing, but not without internal tensions.
