The national Government launched a migratory control operation in Villa Celina, in the district of La Matanza, which made it possible to detect 16 foreign nationals in an irregular migratory situation in a single day. The procedure was carried out by the National Directorate of Migration together with the Argentine Federal Police, as part of the reinforcement of stay controls in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.
According to an official report by the National Security Ministry, during the operation the documentation of 385 foreign citizens was checked. As a result, 16 people were identified who did not have valid legal residence or regular migratory procedures, and they became subject to the corresponding administrative procedures.
Government officials explained that the controls were carried out in public spaces and consisted of the verification of migratory documentation, without searches or home operations. People detected in an irregular situation must regularize their stay in the country; if they do not do so, they may be expelled in accordance with the provisions of the Migration Law.
The deployment was led by Migration personnel with operational support from the Argentine Federal Police, within the framework of a migratory control policy that the Executive began to deepen from the start of the administration. The strategy aims to ensure compliance with the law and put an end to years of lack of control and lack of effective oversight.
