The government of Javier Milei announced that, between December 2023 and September 2025, a total of 58,797 positions in the State belonging to ñoquis and Kirchnerist militant employees were cut, according to official data released by the Ministry of Deregulation and State Transformation.
The adjustment was constant throughout the entire period analyzed, mainly affecting the centralized and decentralized administration, which accounts for most of the layoffs, although cuts in public companies are also included.
This measure is part of the libertarian administration's strategy to downsize the State, reduce public spending and, consequently, generate fiscal relief that allows the continuation of the tax reduction policy, one of the objectives of the current economic plan.

The Minister of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger, highlighted the progress on his X account: "We keep reducing the State so we can keep lowering taxes. VLLC!"
According to official figures for the month of July, in salaries alone, the reduction of state jobs represented an annual saving of 1.053 billion dollars, a figure that rises to 2.106 billion if infrastructure, offices, equipment, and services associated with the eliminated positions are included.

For years, the policy of massive creation of public jobs replied to political purposes, increasing the number of state positions without any kind of control, and generating an oversized and deficit-ridden State, so these types of adjustments are necessary to put an end to a decadent model inherited from Kirchnerism.
Since taking office, Milei's government, on the contrary, has prioritized efficiency and the reduction of unnecessary structures, in line with its objective of ending the fiscal deficit and preparing the ground for a tax decrease that benefits the entire society, strengthening the economy and boosting private investment.
